This\u003cbr\u003estudy explores the meeting of these two apparently conflicting\u003cbr\u003ephenomena by inquiring into how a specific piece of\u003cbr\u003estandardised information, namely the standard for bystander\u003cbr\u003ecardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), is configured in the\u003cbr\u003epractices of lifesaving and bystander CPR-training. In pursuits\u003cbr\u003eof making the standard an intervention to be carried out\u003cbr\u003eby the lay public, it is linked to technologies, hopes and\u003cbr\u003easpirations. In these activities other configurations of lifesaving\u003cbr\u003eand resuscitation than that delineated by the standard appear.\u003cbr\u003eThe ways in which information features and informing\u003cbr\u003ehappens in these pursuits are diverse and shown to have\u003cbr\u003eimplications for the shaping of lay rescuers.
